Lochmueller Elected to Board

 

            Stephen Lochmueller was elected to Raintree County Opera House Guild’s board of directors Sunday at the annual shareholder’s meeting at Guyer Opera House in Lewisville .

                Lochmueller is a native of Lewisville , and owner and president of PenBar Enterprises Inc., F.R.P Division.  He will fill the vacancy created by Mrs. Mike Sweigart who moved to Florida .

                At the shareholder’s meeting, president of the board Dick Willis reviewed projects sponsored by the Guild and reported Guyer Opera House has been placed on the Indiana State List of Historic Landmarks.  In addition, a nomination by the Indiana State Department of Natural Resources has been forwarded to the State Department of the Interior in Washington , DC , for approval and listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

                Also at the meeting, members and guests heard architects Dan Rollins, of James Associates, Indianapolis , and Tom Solomon, of the New Harmony restoration project, discuss ideas, plans and funding methods for restoring Guyer Opera House.

                Willis said the Guild plans to repair Guyer Opera House’s roof and to being restoration on the building’s front this year.  The lobby, which will be designed as a Victorian Salon for use as a theater lobby, art gallery and museum, should be open by next summer.

                Willis also announced that the Guild’s New York Theater Tour will be April 1-7 and will be limited to 75 people.

                Following the meeting, more than 100 people attended the third open house for Guyer.  Board members and members of the Summer Theater Company provided tours and explained the use, history and restoration plans for each area of the building.

                After the tour, guests were entertained with chamber and folk music typical of turn of the century music.  Visitors also viewed an exhibit of paintings by Elizabeth Dodds Shaffer.
